Apple isn't going to put that into iOS, because literally every single user has different requirements. I don't want to have to configure shit left and right, and when I do it's because it's really specific tasks that will take effort anyways, like getting on a VPN and sshing through a jumphost to keep tabs on and run new processing jobs on a compute server. Why bother with the super-powered jacked up infinite configuration when all you really need is just the default? One of the reasons I use Apple devices is specifically because for the majority of what I want, the default is all I need. Sure, f.lux has way more bells and whistles and for those very specific use cases it's definitely superior, but as a guy who actually used to use it and now just has Night Shift + True Tone on, MKBHD was absolutely right in his assessment. I saw that video ages ago when it first came out, seeing this post about f.lux immediately brought it to mind too, because that's what happened.
